The plant overhauling, refurbishment and corresponding conversion measures, such as repowering of solar panels and inverters, are one of the growing business sectors. Apart from the elimination of system defects, a repowering might be an economically interesting option, due to the technical development of the photovoltaics industry even for well-functioning plants. One reason for that is the higher efficiency of new solar panels and inverters and thus an improved yield. Furthermore the maintenance costs and repair costs increase with older components as well as the susceptibility to damage.
